What pH/acidity level can Vivinal® GOS survive?
Vivinal® GOS Syrup is very stable under low pH conditions as well as at high temperatures. Heat treatment and storage at low pH will not affect Vivinal® GOS. It will retain its content of galacto-oligosaccharides, its taste and appearance, while other commercially available oligosaccharides, such as fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) will degrade under these conditions.
What is the shelf life of Vivinal® GOS products?
The shelf life of Vivinal® GOS products is 18 months if stored under proper conditions.
The shelf life of Vivinal® GOS Syrup Organic and Vivinal® GOS Omni Syrup are 12 and 9 months respectively. The shelf life of these products will be extended to 18 months upon completion of stability studies.
How is Vivinal® GOS packed?
Vivinal® GOS Syrup products are packed in 1000 litre industrial bulk containers (IBC's), which contain 1200 kg of product. Bulk deliveries are also possible. Vivinal® GOS Powder is a powdered product, packed in 25 kg bags and 1000 kg big bags. Vivinal® GOS Powder WPC and Vivinal® GOS Powder Maltodextrin are available in 25 kg bags.
How stable is Vivinal® GOS?
Unlike some other oligosaccharides, Vivinal® GOS Syrup is very stable under low pH conditions and high temperatures. Pasteurization, sterilization and storage even at low pH will not affect Vivinal® GOS. The content of galacto-oligosaccharides will remain similar; subsequently benefits are preserved throughout shelf life of the end product.
What dosage of Vivinal® GOS is effective?
Human studies have shown that 1-15 grams of GOS per day stimulates the growth of Bifidobacteria 15, 47,48, 49. Most studies have been carried out with 2.5-10 grams of GOS per day 10,11,37,40.
