Vivinal GOS is a prebiotic ingredient rich in galacto-oligosaccharides. The galacto-oligosaccharides in Vivinal GOS are not digested by the body and they reach the colon intact. These galacto-oligosaccharides stimulate the growth of friendly bacteria in the colon, providing several health benefits.
Several strains of bacteria live in the colon, both good and bad ones. The galacto-oligosaccharides in Vivinal GOS are food for the good bacteria. The good bacteria grow faster and therefore the bad bacteria in your colon decrease. This provides a number of health benefits such as relief of constipation, support of natural defences, growth of bifido bacteria and improved mineral absorption.
